Swim Training Camp(s)

Maximum of 40 athletes per week will be 'distributed' according to level of ability for swim training in the 50 m out door pool. All participates should have a good grasp of all four competitive strokes or are a Triathlete (swimming just Freestyle). Program open to those over 16 years of ages, varying skill level and speed swimming are welcome. Customizes swim training program will be created by the coaches. Be prepared to swim, eat, sleep, swim, eat and sleep for 7 days. Most participant have found it a challenge to remain active after 9:30 PM. Although the camp is designed to be a vacation, the main focus of the group will be the swimming elements. Anticipate being surrounded by fellow swimmers who are committment to a swim training program in a positive environment.

Coaches have planned to offer mileage, mileage and more mileage. This camp not necessarily a stroke improvement opportunity, but coaches are capable and willing offer tips as part of the training session.

Our 10 lane 50m outdoor pool will be divided into, up to, 8 lane to be shared with our group. You can anticipate sharing a lane with up to 8 person but more likely to be 4-5 swimmers - should be only a max of 40 swimmers in the pool. There will be up to 14 workouts during the week.

A Level

Focus: Four competitive strokes, using interval training, speed work and continuous distance swimming. Athletes must be able to handle a base pace time for 10 x 200 freestyle at better than 3:30 in 50 m pool. Athletes will be training up to 70,000 meters.

B Level

Focus: Four competitive strokes using interval training, speed work and continuous distance swimming. Athletes must be able to handle a base pace time for 10 x 200 freestyle between 3:30 and 4:30 50 m pool. Athletes will be training up to 55,000 meters.

C Level

Focus: Four competitive strokes. AM training is dedicated to fitness. PM training is dedicated to stroke improvement. Athletes will be training up to 30,000 meters.

D Level

Athletes who can swim freestlye/front crawl, but do not know how to swim butterfly, backstroke and/or breast stroke. Athletes who do not have an interest in learning butterfly, backstroke and/or breast stroke (triathletes). Might be a Triathlete.

  • 7 days, 7 nights @ the Laguna Mar All-Inclusive Resort.
  • Coaching: Professional Experienced Swim Coaches
  • Accommodations, airport transfers & taxes, meals, drinks and towel service.
  • Swim training 2x daily - 12 training sessions - 50m outdoor pool
Not Included:

The following are not included and should be considered when planning your participation:

  • Training food - power bars, gels, athletic drinks, salt tablets and other items
  • Gratuity for your maid and other service persons on and off resort
  • Optional Group Dinner Off Resort (estimate $60) per participant

Accommodations
Laguna Mar All-Inclusive Resort offers spacious double rooms with queen size beds, full bathrooms, dressing area, TV, mini fridge, radio alarm, towel service all with air conditioning.
Oannes Swims Food & Beverage
Laguna Mar is an all-inclusive resort so all food and beverages are included. There are several restaurants on site that offer everything from local cuisine to American style dishes. Quality or quantity of food is not an issue on resort.

Activities
Laguna Mar Resort is a family facility with lots of activities for the kids and a kid friendly environment - supervised by you.

Beach - Terrific sandy beach which is not great for swimming as the surf is generally quite rough. Perfect for kicking around in the surf, body boarding, laying in the surf, but not good for snorkeling or swimming. Lots of beach chairs with restaurant and washrooms in the vicinity.

Entertainment - Nightly a dance troupe entertains or you might enter the Miss/Mr Lagunamar Contest.

Tours - There is a selection of tours dedicated to showing Margarita island to those up for 'going off resort'. The cost of these tours are not included.

Running & Cycling
You can rent a bike on site (a standard leisure bicycle - not a mountain bike, 10 speed or road bike) and cycle the 3 km track around the resort. This track works well for running too and there are some trails on site for the adventurous cross country runners.

  • All swimmers must be registered with Masters Swimming Ontario or your local masters swimming insurance equivalent
  • Non participants (spouses, friends, family) are welcome - no additional fees.
  • Please bring your own swim training equipment (paddles, fins, pull buoy, snorkel, etc)
