Water is the essence of life. We all need it to survive. Its daily touch soothes our body, mind and spirit.
Some of us have had water in our lives through swimming with regularity and this has brought a sense of ease to our lives. Others have lost their relationship to being in water but can recall the happiness it gave them in their past and would love to reclaim that feeling.
In September 2011, I'd like to start a unique, non-competitive swim squad. It is for anyone interested in creating a spiritual relationship with water and celebrating movement in water in ways which have not been explored prior with conventional swim strokes or workouts.
This one-of-a-kind experience will involve elements of fitness, core strength and stretching, along with interval training but through non-conventional swim strokes and methods. To get an idea, think of breathing for peace, body core undulation, core rolling, stream-lining, and finding buoyancy and balance in the water.
This program would be idea for:
- Swimmers of all ages.
- Swimmers prior injured while caught up in a competitive swim program.
- Swimmers who can't enjoy swimming due to injury from other sports.
- Swimmers who've gained weight and feel physical activity is no longer possible.
- New swimmers who love the water and want to increase their physical fitness.
- Those who strive to become more spiritual swimmers.
- Those who need the essence of water in their lives for simple joy and healing.
I am hoping to be able to use the Jarvis Collegiate pool for our exploration into this new realm of swimming on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights between 8 and 9 PM.
Registration will be opening soon, but I'm very curious to know who might be interested in attending.
Thanks,
Coach Kelvin
