| Total Immersion Workshop - Toronto
- March 25-26, 3006
11 swimmers
Feature Coach: Eric Quane - TI Specialist
Assistant Coach: Leslie Trotter - TI Apprentic
Excellent weekend. Swam 8 hours over Sat and Sun, + 4 hours of
lecture or video analysis. Saw terrific changes is all 11 swimmers,
in terms of balance in the water, streamlining and lengthening
of the stroke (one swimmer droped 9 strokes in one 25 yard distance!).
All swimmers took away ideas and skills for continued improvements.
Eric Quane is particularly fantastic with the TI material; focused
and cosice.
|
Triathlete Stroke Improvement #12 - 6
sessions Mar 3 - 16, 2006
John Innes Pool 10 hour water time / 1 hour video
analysis.
Session had only 5 swimmers, as 2 cancelled - most frustrating
for Oannes Swims. Anyway, we did the sessions with great success.
Particilar focus was needed with a few swimmers regarding breathing.
One swimmer, in particular excelled, leaving with an entirely
new stroke, efficient, rythmic and fully functioning (this was
the first time I saw this from these sessions). All in all, a
great set of sessions.

Triathlete Swim Training - 7-8 AM Swim training started Feb 17, 2006
John Innes Pool 10 x 1 hr sessions
|
| Perfect Stroke Workshop - Freestyle & Back Stroke 8 hrs Feb 5, 7, 12 & 14, 2006 |
Triathlete Stroke Improvement #11 - 6
sessions Feb 13-23, 2006
John Innes Pool 10 hour water time / 1 hour video
analysis.
8 swimmer. For the first time, I had a swimmer do TSIS back to
back. He came away with excellent gains this time around. Make
me think that adding more time might not be a bad idea. Used TI
video this time and did video of their progress 3 times. I think
video is such a great leaning tool. Maybe, the entire length of
the pool should be mirror?
The group did well. So terrific gains. Spent a lot of time on
balance drills this session, as several swimmers had a rough time
with this concept.

| Perfect Stroke Workshop - Breast Stroke 4 hrs Jan 15 & 17, 2006 |
| Perfect Stroke Workshop - Butterfly 4 hrs Jan 8 & 10, 2006 |
Triathlete Stroke Improvement #10 - 6
sessions Jan 9-19, 2006
John Innes Pool 10 hour water time / 1 hour video
analysis.
8 swimmer. Terrific sessions! Adding the extra 2 hours is the
trick. Videoing in the 8th hours works too, offering time to try
comments out in the pool. Also, video is such an amazing tool;
most get a lot from visual learning.
|
Triathlete Stroke Improvement #9 - 6
sessions Dec 5-18, 2006
John Innes Pool 8 hour water time / 1 hour video analysis.
6 Swimmers. Came away with some real change in 5 of the 6 swimmers,
in terms of a more quality freestyle. With one swimmer we had
to take things slowly. they seemed perfectly fine with not accomplishing
the same skill level as the other swimmers. She came to the pool
with less raw skill. None the less, comfort in the water was accomplished.
Hope the swimmer returns. I'm adding more time. No time at the
end for just swimming.

Triathlete Stroke Improvement #8- 8
sessions Nov 14-24, 2005
John Innes Pool 8 hour water time / 1 hour video analysis.
5 swimmers. Nice tight group; skill, speed, focus. True gains
in comfort in the water, balancing, rolling, breathing. Group
was quiet and focused. Spent a lot of time with Balance and felt
the end was rushed; like we needed more time.
|
Triathlete Stroke Improvement #7 - 6
sessions Oct 17-20, 2005
John Innes Pool 8 hour water time / 1 hour video analysis.
7 swimmers attended. Great group 7 is a perfect number of swimmers.
All started out will about the same level of swimming. All swimmers
finished up with new skills and technique to grow their new stroke.
|
Perfect Stroke Workshop - Breaststroke #1 - 4
sessions Oct 2-3, 2005
John Innes Pool 8 hour water time / 1 hour video analysis.
4 swimmers: Having the Breaststroke session following a butterfly
session is excellent (swimmers attended both sessions). We were
able to fix problems for everyone.
|
Perfect Stroke Workshop - Butterfly #2 - 4
sessions Sept 25 26, 2005
John Innes Pool 8 hour water time / 1 hour video analysis.
3 swimmers: Three very attentive swimmers in a private setting,
all focusing results in terrific progress.
|
Perfect Stroke Workshop - Butterfly #1- 4
sessions Sept 18 - 19, 2005
John Innes Pool 8 hour water time / 1 hour video analysis.
3 swimmers: Great progress with these three swimmers. Fly may
become their favorite new stroke.
|
Triathlete Stroke Improvement #6 - 6
sessions Aug 22 - Sept 1, 2005
John Innes Pool 8 hour water time / 1 hour video analysis.
3 swimmers attended. Great sessions. Terrific to be able to work
with such a small group again.
|
| Triathlete Stroke Improvement #5 -
6 sessions Aug 8-18, 2005
John Innes Pool 8 x 1 hour sessions.
3 swimmers attended. Accomplished a lot with these three swimmers.
Real improvement!
|
| Triathlete Stroke Improvement #4 -
6 sessions July 11 -21, 2005
John Innes Pool 8 x 1 hour sessions.
Five swimmers started the session but only 4 finished. Fear of
the water is a difficult feeling to try to overcome, for one swimmer.
The rest of the group show great improvements, more of which will
come for a few in the next months. The sessions are good, but
like everything, needs practice.
|
| Triathlete Stroke Improvement #3 -
6 sessions May 30 - June 9, 2005
John Innes Pool 8 hour water time / 1 hour video analysis.
Six swimmers attended for a successful finish. The group on a
whole showed improvement by the last session. We had one swimmer
that didn't quite move along as well as the others, but in the
end, I was able to point out the positive 'take-aways' for this
swimmer.
|
| Open Water Swim Training - Musselmans Lake group of 4 - May 7 - June 4, 2005 |
| Triathlete Stroke Improvement #2 -
6 sessions April 4-14, 2005
John Innes Pool 8 hour water time / 1 hour video analysis.
Seven Swimmers for an excellent session working specifically in
Freestyle. The added 2 hours was the difference that made this
session work. 3 advanced swimmer had huge gains. 1 'non-swimmer'
had outstanding gains.
|
Triathlete Stroke Improvement #1 - 6
sessions March 14-24, 2005
John Innes Pool 8 hour water time / 1 hour video analysis.
Seven Swimmers for an excellent session working specifically in
Freestyle. Swimmers came out with 'changed' freestyle. Working
in a series of sessions is the key to forcing change in the swimmers
strokes. The sessions seemed quite rushed, too much material and
not enough practice time. Will add 2 more hours for the next session.
|
| Perfect Stroke Workshop
/ Back Stroke - Feb 12-13, 2005
U of T Pool Toronto Pool, 2 x 2 hour sessions.
5 swimmers ventured to relearn Backstroke during these sessions
and we had gains for everyone. The Total Immersions drills followed
really take the swimmers to a new 'space' in backstroke; rolling,
breathing, long from fingertips to toes. Good gains.
|
Perfect Stroke Workshop
/ Butterfly - Feb 5-6, 2005
U of T Pool Toronto Pool, 2 x 2 hour sessions.
Four swimmers attended this workshop specifically for Butterfly.
Most of those attended had taken the Butterfly workshop in Dec
2004 , so we just did a refresher on the basic Total
Immersion Fly drills and moved on. We had four break through's
on four different levels. Everyone came away with 'something'
from the clinic.
|
| Perfect Stroke Workshop
/ Freestyle - Jan 29-30, 2005
U of T Pool Toronto Pool, 2 x 2 hour sessions.
Six swimmers attended this workshop specifically for Freestyle.
We worked with the Total
Immersion technology - Balance in the water - in the first
2 hour session. The group seems to really grasp the ideals.
On the second day we review the drills from the first session
and move on adding skills and drill to the crescendo of a pause
stroke, which can we used in the coming weeks to strengthen each
swimmer's balance, streamlineness and the feeling of swimming
with a long stroke from finger tips to toes.

| 2004 |
Perfect Stroke Workshop / Butterfly -
December 18-19, 2004
U of T Pool Toronto Pool, 3 hours pool time.
Five swimmers attended the first of Coach Kelvin's Perfect Stroke
workshops based on Total
Immersion technology. The group was made up on near novices
to Butterfly and the skill accomplished was remarkable.
