is not a learn to swim program.
It is important for organizing workouts and to ensure
safety during open water swimming that our participants have a certain
level of fitness, swimming skill & speed.
Coaching staff will have the 'final say' to allow swimmers to swim
during the event.
The following will be the basic standard to qualify for the event:
- Swum, during regular workout:
- 1000 meters continuous swimming (that's
without stopping!).
- Practical knowledge of:
- at least two (2) swimming strokes (Butterfly,
Backstroke, Breaststroke or Freestyle).
- Ability to tread water.
- Knowledge of water safety.
- Must feel comfortable swimming in open water.
