Open Water Swim Training Spring 2003

This is not a learn to swim program.

It is important for organizing workouts and to ensure safety during open water swimming that our participants have a certain level of fitness, swimming skill & speed.
Coaching staff will have the 'final say' to allow swimmers to swim during the event.
The following will be the basic standard to qualify for the event:

  • Swum, during regular workout:
    • 1000 meters continuous swimming (that's without stopping!).
  • Practical knowledge of:
    • at least two (2) swimming strokes (Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke or Freestyle).
  • Ability to tread water.
  • Knowledge of water safety.
  • Must feel comfortable swimming in open water.

Camp may not be hosted at this lake site.
