| It is important
for organizing workouts and to ensure safety during open water swimming
that our participants have a certain level of fitness, swimming
skill & speed.
Coaching staff will have the 'final say' to allow swimmers to swim
during the event.
This is not a
learn to swim program.
The following will be the basic standard to qualify
for the event:
- Swum, during regular workout:
- 10 x 100 meters (1000 m or 40 lengths in 25m pool) freestyle/front
crawl within 25 minutes (that's without stopping!).
- Ability to swim:
- Freestyle or Front Crawl
- Another stroke - Breast stroke
- Tread water
- Some knowledge of water safety.
- Must feel comfortable swimming in open water.

- Swim Fins
- Paddles
- Pull Buoy
