Rogue Swims

The following regulations must be adhered to while swimming with RogueSwims:

  • Athletes who break or are reported to break regulations will be asked to NOT participate in future swims.
    1. Safety is FIRST. Listen for any instructions prior to each swim.
    2. Swim close enough to the shore to be sure you are in a position to exit the water in case of any emergency.
    3. Swim with a buddy or with other swimmers (known to you or not) who are of similar speeds.
    4. Each/any open water swim should be swam with the understanding that you are responsible for yourself. No one is going to tell you that you are too tired, too cold, the water is too rough or other. You are responsible for understanding the water and weather conditions and your OWN limitations. You must remain aware of yourself, others and your environment.
    5. You MUST have the ability to swim twenty (20) minutes continuously or forty (40) lengths of a 25 meter or yard pool - Continuous swimming!
    6. You MUST wear a BRIGHT coloured swim cap (yellow or orange) for each swim.
    7. Bags/stuff left on the beach, during our swims, are left at your risk. You are the ONLY person responsible for your bags/stuff.

Coaching:

  • These session are NOT coached sessions. If interested in Open Water Swimming lessons, Triathlete coaching, stroke improvement or other instructions, please visit - Oannes Swims or Toronto Triathlon Swim Club.

Conditions:

  • The water can be between 55F/13C to 78F/27C
  • Water quality is monitored by the City of Toronto. Our beach is located between Kew Balmy Beach and Bluffer's Beach. Nothing is guaranteed with regard to water quality.
  • Water condition will vary from minute to minute and for each swim.

Equipment:

  • All/any equipment is encouraged - wet suit, fins, snorkel, etc..
  • BRIGHT coloured swim cap (yellow or orange) are required for each swim.

Social:

  • We will be having a 'Warm-up' social afterward. Location to be announced.

Race:

  • Zoot Swim - Peterborough Ontario (search online as registration changes annually).
  • L.O.S.T. Race annually.

Bring a Friend:

  • Lake Ontario is one of the best bodies of water in the world for open water swimming. Several of the beach in and around Toronto are part of and thus monitored by the BlueFlag Program - Worldwide water quality organization. We have a great lake to swim in. Tell people about it and bring them down to watch or even better, to swim.
